The Core:

An Adviser Toolbox Seminar

The Core is a very special seminar and it is directed at a very special group of people – advisers and sponsors of student activities. Everyone claims to understand the value of cocurricular programs to both school and community. That value has been acclaimed in virtually every national study of our system of education. Yet very little practical in-service training is offered for the advisers, sponsors or coaches who are ultimately held responsible for those activities.

Essentially this seminar provides the opportunity to learn and master the nuts and bolts of advisership. It is a comprehensive program packed with eye-opening practical skills and ideas. Fundamentally we hold that successful advisership is the result of actively teaching and preparing students to lead themselves. So the intent of the program is to enable and prepare advisers to teach leadership skills to their students.

The registration fee covers lunch, program materials, and speakers. The program materials include: an adviser handbook & CD, a resource guide, a book of ideas, as well as handouts specific to each skillshop.

Registration is limited. Professional Development Points will be awarded. Specific registration information (directions, etc.) will be emailed to each registrant.
