Ways we recognize leaders

Catching people doing things right is one of the most rewarding tasks a leader has. SLTP takes our role in contributing positive recognition for student leadership very seriously.

Make sure that whatever leadership experience in which you partake, you accept the responsibility to submit a press release to the local paper. It might seem like patting yourself on the back, but actually it will make it easier for others to get the same chance as you.

The Grand Slam Awards

Attending OTS, LTC, ALC, the InterLead and the REE all in the same calendar year is a considerable feat! We will celebrate the schools and individuals who accomplish this feat at the ReEnergizer Conference. The recognition will include special awards and camperships.

The Student Leader of the Year Award

Since 1990 SLTP has been blessed through the participation of over 5,000 student leaders. The impact of SLTP graduates can be felt from the classroom, to the boardroom, to the halls of legislation. SLTP graduates tend to take the mantle of leadership very seriously. Perhaps that is why so many receive leadership grants and scholarships, or are selected to be RA’s. Some go unrecognized except by those for whom they made a difference. All are champions. In 2000, SLTP founded the Student Leader of the Year Award to recognize SLTP’s most outstanding student leader for the current year. The SLY Award Ceremony is one of the prime presentations at the InterLead Conference in April. Student leaders can be nominated for the SLY by SLTP graduates, by SLTP Staff, by their Principal, or by their student activity adviser.

Personal Development & Public Service Citations

SLTP wants to recognize you for the work you do. We will be honoring student leaders for both PUBLIC SERVICE and PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

Champion for Youth Award

SLTP strives to empower student leadership through our Champion for Youth Awards, by helping student leaders recognize those members of their schools and communities who make a positive significant difference for young people.

Lifetime of Difference Award

This award seeks to recognize those members of our communities who have made a lifetime of difference through their selfless contributions to the greater welfare of our schools and community.  The recipient is recognized in a ceremony at the InterLead Conference.

Peter J Baltren Award

This award is given at the close of each LTC to campers that have shown exemplary learning throughout the conference.  These are not only people that have shown growth during the week, but have contributed significantly to the learning and growth of other delegates as well.  This award includes a small campership for the recipient to attend ALC.  The award is named in memory of a staff member whose immense contribution to SLTP shaped our program and inspires our staff to this day.

Touchstone Award

Given at the close of each ALC, this award seeks to recognize the most aggressive learners of the group.  This award includes a small campership for the recipient to attend TLC the following summer.
