THE STUDENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM Leaders walk their talk. |
|
Our Staff100% Volunteers / 100% non-profitSLTP has no paid employees. Everyone who serves on our staff is a pure volunteer. 100% of all revenue is used for program services. We do everything we can to keep our costs low to make our program accessible to as many students as possible. We are committed to providing the very best leadership training available to high school students. Staff Preparation and TrainingEach year over 200 of the finest student leaders in New England apply for a LT staff position, and very few are selected. Selection is only the beginning. All LT staff are required to complete a rigorous 100 hour teacher training program as well as attendance at the three day staff conference to become certified as Leadership Trainers. These hours consume many weekends all winter. Then comes the real test - the week of service. Our LI staff come to us from all walks of life – from the classroom to the corporate board room. All LI staff must complete a 30 hour training program in addition to participation in the three day staff conference. Lesson and material preparation add countless more hours. Staff service is entirely voluntary. We are a residential program, so staff service at the conference involves extremely long days focusing on just one goal -- teaching. Winston Churchill remarked “everyone wants to learn, but no one wants to be taught.” For more information:
